It’s been officially confirmed that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, developed by Ninja Theory will be locked at 30 frames per second on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
It is, however, expected to achieve a higher framerate on PC. The confirmation of Hellblade II running at 30fps is courtesy of a preview from media outlet GamePro. Ahead of its release, it’s no secret that Hellblade II looks to be one of the most visually impressive games of this generation, similar to the original game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice which was originally released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017 and 2018, respectively, before being enhanced for Xbox Series X/S in 2021. It also looks damn impressive on the Nintendo Switch, might I add.
However, it seems that the gorgeous visuals of Hellblade II come at the expense of the framerate, which is perhaps different to the Redfall situation, because that’s not particularly a great-looking game, especially for Arkane standards. Whether Hellblade II will have graphics and performance options post-launch, remains to be seen, but I certainly hope so.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be released on 21 May for PC and Xbox Series X/S. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
